Our Naturally Tanned Sheepskins are Back!

A new batch of our regeneratively-raised and naturally-tanned sheepskins are available online. We’ve got the first dozen listed in the farm store and there are more to come.

We are proud to share these special sheepskins with our farm community. Whether it’s to offer a cozy spot for a furry friend to curl up, or to welcome a new baby, these pieces transform the spaces they inhabit and become treasured heirlooms to share with family and friends.

Most sheepskins in the marketplace are sourced largely from industrial scale farms and processed with intense chemical treatments that create harmful environmental waste and leave residues on the final product. Our hides come from regeneratively-raised animals and the natural tanning process leaves them safe and snuggly. They come in an array of colors and textures as varied as nature itself.

We are incredibly lucky to have the Vermont Natural Tannery right up the road from us in Manchester, Vermont. VNT is one of only a handful of truly natural tanneries in the country, and the only of its kind in the eastern U.S. There are very few people left with the knowledge, patience and dedication to complete the slow, multi-stage process of tannin-based tanning, and VNT’s owner, Derek, is one of them. He also happens to be a wonderful human being (or possibly, wizard) who we are grateful to call, friend—or if you speak High Elvish, “Meldo”.
