Planting Deep Roots

Our agroforestry projects are at the heart of our mission here on the farm. Part of our role will be as a nursery where white and red oak genetics can iterate and develop as we identify the individual trees that may one day help restock thousands of acres of chestnuts and oaks here in the Northeast.

We are thrilled to be partnering in this work with Breadtree Farms, who are leaders in a growing movement of agroforestry producers across the country demonstrating what ultra-abundant, multi-tiered farms of the future can look like. They are simultaneously planting orchards at a remarkable pace and building out large-scale regional infrastructure to bring these ancient tree crops to a modern market.

Presently, the Breadtree team is here at work planting in two of our fields. We’ll share on both those projects in our next update!
